A new way to display your images.
We are introducing a new means for you to display your media across institute and education pages on findcourses. We are now combining images and videos from either YouTube or Vimeo into one focused gallery at the top of every page. At the same time, we are making the process of adding your media via the Customer Portal simpler.
Ultimately, this new update will make for a smoother experience for both you and your potential learners.
Media gallery: a step-by-step guide
In this guide we walk you through, step by step, how to use the media gallery to make the most of your listings on findcourses.com.
You can manage your media gallery yourself in the customer portal. Add up to 16 items (images and videos) in one place.
Step 1: Log in to the customer portal
Open "Company information" and go to the "Media gallery" tab. For individual courses, you'll find the tab under the course's program information.
Specifications
Before you upload your images, make sure they meet the following guidelines:
- Number: up to 16 images and videos
- Format: JPG, JPEG, or PNG
- Dimensions: min. 1,620 × 1,080 px
- File size: max. 10 MB per file
- Videos: YouTube or Vimeo (video ID only)
Step 2: Upload images
- Open the Media gallery under Company information.
- Add an image by clicking Add image, or drag and drop the file into the upload area.
- Check the preview to see how the image looks in different formats.
- Add an image description and alt text (it's quick, and it matters for both accessibility and SEO).
- Click Done. The image now appears under Number of uploaded items.
Step 3: Add a video
Videos aren't uploaded as files—instead, you link to a YouTube or Vimeo video that's already published online.
- Click Add video.
- Choose a provider: YouTube or Vimeo.
- Enter the Video ID—the code that identifies the video in the link (for YouTube, it's the part after
watch?v=, for example_AeDzyiUkW8). - Add a video description.
- Click Done. The video now appears in the gallery with a play icon.
If you'd like to use a video that isn't published on YouTube or Vimeo, reach out to your contact and we'll help you out.
How the gallery works
- Order: drag and drop items to change the order. The first item is marked Primary and is displayed most prominently on your profile. It can be either an image or a video.
- Layout: the layout adapts automatically to the number of items—one large image or video if there's only one, or a grid with a "View all" button when there are several.
- Cropping: images are cropped automatically from the center to fit each layout, so you don't need to resize them yourself.
- Edit or delete: hover over an item to edit it (pencil) or delete it (trash can).
Descriptions and alt text
When you upload an image, there are two fields in the Upload image window: Image description and Alt text. For videos, you add a video description in the upload window.
You can add or edit descriptions and alt text at any time afterward by hovering over an item in the gallery and clicking the edit icon (the pencil).
Why the description matters
- It helps prospective learners understand what they're looking at.
- It's shown when a visitor opens "View all" in the gallery.
- Items without a description are marked "No description," so you can spot them easily.
Why alt text matters
- It's read aloud by screen readers, so people who can't see the image still know what it shows (accessibility).
- It's used by search engines, which improves your profile's visibility in search results (SEO).
- Describe what the image actually shows. Be specific and descriptive, and avoid phrases like "image of…." For example: "A team collaborating on a project."
Tips for the perfect gallery ✨
- Use landscape (horizontal) images—they work best both in the gallery and when visitors open "View all images."
- Upload high-resolution images.
- Always add at least two items—preferably more.
- Add a description and alt text to every image and video (this improves the user experience, accessibility, and SEO).
- Drag and drop to change the order, and choose which image or video should be the main item (Primary) in the gallery.
How we decide which items are displayed
Courses without their own media gallery inherit the gallery from the company presentation—which is why it's important that the company presentation's media gallery is well put together and representative.
If you prefer to work with just one gallery (the company presentation) and use it for your courses too, you can deliberately leave the courses without items of their own. They'll then inherit the company presentation's media gallery automatically.
- If a course doesn't have its own media gallery, the company presentation's media gallery is displayed automatically.
- If you add images or videos to the course, it gets a gallery of its own.
- If neither the company presentation nor the course has any media, no gallery is displayed.
Quick checklist ✅
- Your images are JPG, JPEG, or PNG, at least 1,620 × 1,080 pixels and no larger than 10 MB.
- You've added no more than 16 images and videos in total.
- Every item has a description, and every image has alt text.
- Your best image or video is marked Primary (drag it into first place).
- You've saved your changes before leaving the page.
